Alton - Closed 65
On the Leek - Uttoxeter Line.
Brilliantly preserved as a
private residence. |
 |
|
Alton - Closed 65
A quite fantastic station. |
 |
|
Bakewell - Closed 67
On the very famous Monsal Trail. |
 |
|
Bakewell - Closed 67
If you're ever up in the Peak District
you must go on this walk. It's exceedingly rewarding. |
 |
|
Bakewell - Closed 67
The wall is all that remains on the
other platform. |
 |
|
Blackwell Mill - Closed 66
On the Buxton - Matlock line.
A bit of an oddity this one. It
was reputed to be the smallest station on British Railways. It
consisted of 2 platforms long enough just for 1 carriage and it
served for the railway workers who lived in the still existing
cottages nearby. |

|
Chapel-en-le-Frith Central - Closed 67
This was the Midland station which
is still open as a freight only line to the Peak Forest.
As you can see the station is now
a DIY store and is right in the town centre, whilst the still open
station is some way from the town. Duh!! |

|
Clifton Mayfield - Closed 54
On the Uttoxeter - Buxton line.
I was confronted by a very angry
lady owner of the house for taking pictures of her home. 1) I was
not trespassing on your property and therefore there's bugger all
you can do about it! 2) If you don't want weirdos like me taking
photos of your house then don't move into a former railway station
love!!! |

Great Longstone - Closed 62
Also on the Monsal Trail.
This is a fantastic station. It's
hardly changed at all you can easily imagine trains still flying
through here. |
 |
|
Great Longstone - Closed 62
Although officially closed in 62, it
was kept open for 1 person who used it to get to work on the
condition that the station would become unmanned and she was the
only person who could use the station. This arrangement continued
until the line itself closed in 67. |
