Hancock! That’s the reason why this site exists.

I’ve always had a love for the British rail system, however that took a back seat when I hit my 20s and discovered the usual sex, drugs and rock n roll. Even when I settled down as I reached my 30s' I still didn’t give it much attention until I received an e-mail from a mate in the summer of 2005.

He mentioned he’d bought some Hancock’s half hour episodes, I replied with some useless info that in the Hancock film The Rebel, the scenes at the train station were filmed at the now demolished Bingham Road station.

I soon discovered to my amazement he had a fervent interest in the closed Woodside – Selsdon line (We’re both Croydon boys) and in turn didn’t have a clue that in my younger years (although if you’ve already seen the photos it’s pretty obvious!) I was heavily into the railway scene. A week later I’m showing him around the half mile stretch that isn’t used by the Croydon Tramlink and that was it…. I’m hooked again!

My Father and I at Colchester 27 August 80. We still wear cardigans, just not ones knitted by my Mother!

This is a passionate but not serious look at the railways in the 80s and ones that no longer exist.

The site deliberately looks different (or crap, depending on your view) from the standard rail web sites, so you’ll remember it and want to come back for more. MORE I tell you!!!!!

I know full well that this is seen by many as a “sad” hobby and I totally agree, but I bloody love it!
