The great North West. Had everything for every kind of train lover, a fantastic mix of electric and diesel. Made us "third rail" southern boys well jealous!

Accrington - 13 July 83

Wow man! That is art!

Accrington - 13 July 83

The line from Bury used to join here, but alas it closed in 1966.

A look at the town.

Alderley Edge - August 85

A class 304 EMU #304 003.

Bank Hall - August 85

A class 507 Emu.

From recent photos of this station the buildings are no longer there.

Besses o 'th' Barn - Mid 81

A class 504 EMU indigenous to the Manchester - Bury line.

This line is now part of the Manchester Metrolink (GMPTE) which opened on 6 April 92.

Bidston - June 84

A class 503 EMU used specifically for the Wirral and Mersey lines introduced from 1939. I should think these old boys have long since gone into retirement.

Bidston - June 84

Another look at a class 503. Not the prettiest of units, but still they did the job well for many years.

Blackburn - 24 April 84

I believe the station has had a multi million pound redevelopment.

The street level buildings still exist and have been smartened up.

A look at the clock and roof.

All this has been demolished though. Thanks to Paul for the updates.
