Bridgeton - 21 Sept 82

In the Glasgow suburbs.

Dumfries - August 86

A class 47 loco approaches.

Dumfries - August 86

The same 47 loco next to a delightful sign on the grass slope celebrating 800 years of the town.

Edinburgh Waverley - Nov 84

A class 27 loco #27 033. These locos' were rarely seen outside of Scotland. However is it me, or do they look very much like a class 33?

Edinburgh Waverley - Nov 84
Edinburgh Waverley - Nov 84

The same class 27 plus one of those rear coaches )also indigenous to Scotland) where the loco would push but the driver operate from the coach. Or something like that if you know the name of these coaches and exactly how they operated, please please tell, so I don't sound so stupid!

Jason H very kindly sent me the below info -

Those rear coaches were called DBSO's (Driving Brake Second Open, I
think) but they didnt run
with Class 27's - they ran with Class 47's. Prior to their introduction,
the Glasgow Queen Street
to Edinburgh service was made up from Class 27 push pull sets - a loco
at each end with 6 coaches
in between. This meant maintaining two locos so they later introduced
(late 1970s) the Class 47 DBSO's,
one loco, five either Mk II or Mk III coaches, and a Mk II converted BSO
(to a DBSO) to control
the 47 from the other end. Worked until about 1990 when Scotrail
replaced them with Class 158s and
later 170s.

Glasgow Queen St - 21 Sept 82

Another class 47 loco. Brilliant!!!

Glasgow Queen St - 21 Sept 82
